Sunrise Public School ("the School", "we", "us") respects the privacy of the students, parents, guardians, and staff who use our mobile application ("the App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, with whom it may be shared, and the choices available to you. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Who the App is for
The App is provided by the School to parents, guardians, students, and staff of Sunrise Public School to support school communication and academic administration. Accounts are created and managed by the School; the App is not open for public registration.
2. Information we collect
The App collects and processes the following categories of information:
- Account and identity information: name, admission or employee number, class and section, parent/guardian name, email address, and phone number, as maintained in the School's records.
- Academic and school records: attendance, timetable, homework and assignments, examination results and report cards, fee records and payment status, circulars, and notices.
- Communications: messages exchanged between parents and the School through the App, and responses to school forms or consent requests.
- Photos, media, and documents: photographs, videos, and documents shared by the School through the App, and files uploaded by users where the App provides such a feature (for example, assignment submissions or profile photographs).
- Device and technical information: device type, operating system version, app version, unique device identifiers, and push-notification tokens, used to deliver notifications and keep the App working reliably.
Device permissions. The App may request the following device permissions. Each is requested only when you use the related feature, is used solely for that feature, and can be revoked at any time through your device settings:
- Camera and photos/storage: to take or upload photographs and documents within the App, such as profile photographs, assignment submissions, and downloading circulars or report cards to your device.
- Location: used only to support location-based features enabled by the School, such as transport/bus tracking or location-verified attendance. Location data is not used for advertising or shared with third parties for their own purposes.
- Contacts: used only to support communication features within the App, such as saving or dialling school contact numbers, where you choose to use them.
The App does not use the information of children for advertising, behavioural tracking, or profiling, and does not collect browsing history.
3. How we use the information
- To operate the App and provide access to attendance, results, homework, fees, and school communications.
- To send notices, circulars, alerts, and push notifications relating to school activities.
- To maintain the safety and security of students and the integrity of school records.
- To troubleshoot technical problems and improve the reliability of the App.
- To comply with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not display third-party advertising in the App.
4. Children's privacy
The App relates to students who are minors. The School processes students' personal data in its capacity as an educational institution, with the consent of parents or lawful guardians obtained at the time of admission or account creation, in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India). We do not undertake tracking, behavioural monitoring, or targeted advertising directed at children, and we do not process children's data in a manner likely to cause them harm.
5. Sharing of information
Information is shared only as necessary to run the App and the School's operations:
- Technology provider: the App is built on the Fedena school management platform, developed and maintained by Foradian Technologies Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru, India, which processes data on the School's behalf as our service provider. Data managed through the App is stored on the School's Fedena instance. Foradian's own privacy practices are described in its privacy policy.
- Supporting services: the App uses Google Firebase to deliver push notifications, and, where enabled by the School, payment gateway providers to process fee payments. These services receive only the information necessary to perform their functions. Google's handling of Firebase data is described in Google's Firebase privacy documentation.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose information where required by law, regulation, or a valid request from a government authority.
We do not share personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
6. Data security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect personal information, including access controls, authentication, and encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS). Access to student data within the App is limited to the account holder concerned and authorised school staff. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, but we take appropriate steps to protect the data we hold.
7. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as the student or staff member is associated with the School, and thereafter as required for legitimate educational, administrative, or legal purposes. When information is no longer required, it is deleted or anonymised.
8. Your rights and choices
- You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you or your child.
- You may request deletion of an account when your association with the School ends, subject to record-keeping requirements under applicable law.
- You can disable push notifications, and revoke camera, photos, location, or contacts permissions, at any time through your device settings. Doing so may limit the related features of the App.
- You may withdraw consent for optional uses of data (such as event photographs) by writing to us at the contact below.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be available at this page, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the latest revision. Significant changes will be communicated through the App or by notice from the School.
